BAA constitution comes under microscope at AGM

Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) holds its Annual General Meeting(AGM) tomorrow in Mogoditshane with the adoption of a revised constitution expected to top the agenda.

BAA spokesperson, Ipolokeng Ramatshaba told Mmegi Sport that affiliates have tasked the executive committee to look at some of the articles of the constitution for possible review. The committee will present the revised articles to the meeting for possible adoption. Ramatshaba said if the meeting adopts the articles then the constitution will be taken to the lawyers for final endorsement.

He explained that it was critical for the BAA to revise the constitution from time to time to align it with that of the International Association Athletics Federations (IAAF). The committee was also to look at regulations governing elections. Presently, candidates who stand for elections also have voting powers. The committee was also to determine if it is right for members to sit on a dissolved committee to stand when fresh elections are called.
