Veteran athletics coach, Adam Letham has called it a day. He will be returning to his native Scotland after staying in Botswana for 18 years.

In a farewell luncheon hosted in his honour by the Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) on Wednesday, Letham described his stay in the country as memorable. He urged the BAA to embrace cross-country because it offers more chances of success.

He said countries like Kenya are doing well in long distance races because they have invested a lot in the events. He lamented that most athletes are not actively involved in the running of the sport after they retire. He described his stay in Botswana as a wonderful experience. "I have stayed in a few African countries briefly but I have stayed in Botswana for the longest time.
