Amos' earnings near P1m

London 2012 Olympic silver medallist, Nijel Amos stands to pocket close to P1 million for his exploits on the track, becoming the second athlete from Botswana to earn so much cash after women's world champion Amantle Montsho.

The man of the moment has received donations from both government and the corporate sector. The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture Ruth Maphorisa announced the windfall at a dinner hosted for the Olympics team on Monday.

Amos will get P400, 000 from the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) Incentive Fund for winning silver at the Olympics, P100, 000 for winning gold at the World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain, and another P100, 000 for setting a new world record at the same competition.
