What about our culture of freedom of speech?

Please allow me space to succinctly respond to the article by one Boitumelo Shinoh Bane that appeared in your newspaper on Nov 5, tittled 'Foreigners should respect our President'.

Although the article was of questionable standard and quite naive, it's disturbing enough to warrant a swift response from my side.  I was disgusted by the xenophobic undertones of the article. I don't know if I have to remind Bane that this country wouldn't be where it  is today if it weren't for the big contributions of foreigners, especially our fellow African brothers.

Insulting and demeaning foreigners is hardly a good way to thank all these foreign doctors, teachers, engineers, investors who came and contributed to our development and taught us most of what we know today.  Bane goes to big lengths talking about insults and ad-hominem attacks directed at our President by foreigners but fails to come up with a single valid example to buttress his/her accusations.
