We might have a new Zimbabwe in the making in Libya - promises not kept

The European and Libyan deal that resulted in the release of those medics worries me. I don't think that they should have been released at all whatever the sentence they had been given should have been upheld! Because in my view that what they have done is unforgivable.

I am worried what will happen if the Europeans don't keep their promise of resuming ties with Libya, and most importantly helping with the HIV/ AIDS scourge. We might come to see another Zimbabwe because of its failed deals with the British government. The deal was like the colonial regime of Ian Smith who had forcefully taken the land from the blacks upon taking over in 1980, the Mugabe regime had some kind of a deal with the British government, it was fine with the then Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Then came Tony Blair who decided - I think - to stop the deal.

Robert Mugabe tried to talk this through with Tony Blair but to no avail until such time that he decided to again forcefully reverse that, which did not go down well with everyone, especially the whites. He was doing this out of frustration, for the love of his country and its people who he literally fought for to gain independence of Zimbabwe.
