We are at a cross-roads

A few months ago I raised the question of the invasive leadership style of those who govern over us today.

To be precise, I cautioned of what I referred to as the Big Brother state.  As usual this vexed many who have allowed themselves to be hoodwinked by their blind loyalty to a power system despite its obvious imperfection.  

The Motswaledi-Khama face-off only confirms that we are at a cross-roads in the history of our democracy as a nation.  Motswaledi's boldness may have cost him his position as Secretary General of the Botswana Democratic Party, but it has immortalised him as a fighter for free speech, democratic discourse and good governance.  I dare say that there is swelling consensus that there is an urgent need to review the constitution of Botswana in order to bring it in line with our democratic culture.
