The Evangelical Lutheran responds

As the author asks for explanations of what happenend, I wish to hereby respond to the article "The Lutheran Church and Hospital, Ramotswa in 1959" by Sandy Grant, as it appeared in the Mmegi of 8 October 2009 on page 6.

May I start with a question:  What is the aim of this article?  To me, it is not clear. Furthermore, as its last sentence speaks of the Mission's "faltering interest in anything else (physical man)" - which is simply not true - let me clarify a few issues and try to shed some light on the history of the Lutheran Church and Hospital in Ramotswa, and the Mission's involvement in it, by drawing the reader's attention to the following facts:

1. In the article, the "German Hermannsburg Mission" - which has been called Evangelical Lutheran Mission in Lower Saxony/Germany (ELM) since 1975 (and I shall be using this name here) - is made accountable for a photograph and an accompanying comment made by a person not related to ELM.  In other words, ELM is made responsible for something Katesa Schlosser, an anthropologist, who is in no way affiliated with ELM, has written, and not representatives of ELM.
