Reply To Monitor Article, 'Mogae Spoils Party'

With reference to the Botswana Media Code of Ethics, this Office wishes to express its concern about some of the misleading content contained in the above entitled article, which was published on the front page and page two of 10 September 2007 edition of Monitor newspaper.

On both pages of the article in question it is misleadingly suggested that the former CEO of Metropolitan Botswana, Limited Nkani "had an input in the speech", which President delivered on the occasion marking Metropolitan Botswana's 10th anniversary. 

For the record Nkani had no role whatsoever in the drafting of the speech. The Monitor's possible confusion on this point would appear to arise from the following passage of His Excellency's remarks, which we believe speaks for itself:
