Its good to know when to quit

Football, they say is a cruel sport. It may not be such a bad assertion looking at the manner and frequency at which coaches lose their jobs.

This is a sport where one is only as good as their last performance, seldom does reputation matter as much as the results of the day.

I wouldn't like, however to write about the vicissitude of football as my subject matter per se, but rather would like to discuss that which in my view is an important aspect which defines a good footballer. In most cases it is one area which most sports stars would rather not talk about: knowing the right time to call it quits! Medals, goals and all the commercial freebies which go with football help define a good footballer, but what distinguishes a great one from the good ones is the one who knows the right time to quit, or to put it accurately, the one who quits when still ahead.
