I Strongly Support Reteng

I am an occasional online reader of the Mmegi and Monitor newspapers and I was struck by an article in the issue of Thursday, September 25, 2008, volume 25, No. 143; headline: "New Btv line-up annoys RETENG", by Bame Piet, coupled with an editorial article.

I cannot agree more with Prof Lydia Nyati-Ramahobo, the Secretary General of RETENG.

It is a pity that governments are not willing to listen to those who want to promote their indigenous languages. Botswana for one should be leading by example, particularly in Southern Africa, where in all scores on the elements of democracy and good governance the country is rated the top.
