BDP is interfering in BNYC matters

The Botswana Congress Party Youth League (BCP-YL) has been following with intense interest the current unfortunate state of affairs unfolding at the Botswana National Youth Council (BNYC).

The BCP Youth League learnt through the media that BDP cabinet had issued a directive to cancel the 2009 election debates hosted by BNYC and Botswana Guardian and secondly we learnt of the "removal from office" of the BNYC executive director Ndulamo Anthony Morima through questionable procedures.

The BCP Youth League would like to condemn both actions by the BDP leadership who are using their members sitting in the BNYC board. We have read, watched and heard from the media contradicting announcements from members of the BNYC board regarding whether Morima has been "fired" or not. We watched in dismay the press conference addressed by a section of BNYC board members declaring the "sacking" of BNYC executive director. This was followed by a press release issued by the BNYC board chair dismissing the previous declaration made by his juniors in the BNYC board.
