Hands off Cde Moupo _ A Response to Calmon Monageng Mogalakwe

This is a response to an article, which appeared in the Mmegi issue of 17th December, in which a certain Monageng Mogalakwe unleashed a vicious attack against Cde Otsweletse Moupo.

He boldly declares the need to record the history of the alleged deceit, treachery and betrayal of Cde Moupo, but then proceeds to give an account of the discussion, which allegedly took place between him and Cde Moupo at Mahalapye Hotel on 30th October 2005. How the matters allegedly discussed at the hotel have anything to do with the BNF remains unexplained.

He then repeats the allegations which were said many times in the past, that Cde Moupo was unfit to lead the BNF on account of his improper handling of Trust Accounts. The Law Society is the professional body responsible for ensuring that lawyers conduct themselves in an ethical and professional manner. If Cde Moupo is guilty of such serious professional misconduct as alleged by Mogalakwe, why has not a single client reported him to the Police or the Law Society? And why has he not appeared before the Disciplinary Committee of the Law Society let alone being found guilty of any misconduct? One only needs raise these questions to demonstrate that Mogalakwe's allegation about Cde Moupo's loss of moral authority to lead the BNF has no factual foundation whatsoever.
