Reference is made herein to your article on The Monitor of August 8 2016, by your reporter, captioned “GU Want Zakhem To Assume Full Control”.

Allow me to state for the record that this article not only misrepresents us the Gaborone United Sporting Club family, it also brings about confusion and throws away our principles, where upholding of the constitution is concerned.

I, Kgomotso Monageng, was part of the members who allegedly “agreed to give former investor Nicholas Zakhem full control of the team” during the club’s August 6 annual general meeting in Palapye.  The fact of the matter is that NO resolution was passed with regards to the above. Instead, we, the general membership tasked the club’s NEC to go back to the drawing board and come up with at the very least one or two business models deemed of suit for the club, share such with the members and subsequently convene a special general meeting, upon which the said models will be deliberated and debated on, and adoption of any of them sought.  I therefore urge that a retraction and or correction of the said article be carried out, bearing in mind the far reaching consequences of such utterances on behalf of the club and its members.
