Police say residents of Zola beat up police officers who knock on their doors looking for suspects.

It is not everyday that one hears the police confessing that they are harassed or beaten up by thieves. Under normal circumstances it is the police who are feared by the public, including the criminals. 

It is however the other way round in Zola, as Old Naledi is popularly known. Here the police run for dear life. It is a no go area. When they go out on patrol, they are sure to get one thing - a beating from the community. In Zola, the criminals and the community act in unison to the chagrin of the police.
