SELEBI-PHIKWE: There was drama at the Selebi-Phikwe Magistrate Court this week when an accused person appeared in the dock wearing a police uniform, while another defendant wept uncontrollably after his bail was cancelled.

Isaac Dube was allegedly given police attire after he threatened to appear in court in his underpants because he did not have anything to wear. The Zimbabwean appeared in the dock wearing the old police uniform that is currently being used by special constables.

Selebi-Phikwe Magistrate, Goratile Moremi did not take kindly to the development. She demanded answers from the prosecutor, Sub-Inspector Kabelo Mozanywa. The magistrate wondered what would happen if the accused went out and arrested people or performed other police duties.
