FRANCISTOWN: A suspected diamond dealer, Japhet Chaganda (49) of Chinhoyi appeared before Principal Magistrate Dumisane Basupi facing a single count of unlawful possession of diamonds.

He was arrested over the weekend. The state alleges that Chaganda was found in possession of three diamonds while not being a person exempted or authorised to possess the diamonds.

Prosecutor Gasemotho Pitlagano applied for the charge to be read to the accused and his plea reserved because investigations have just began.
