WUC blamed for high water bills, cracking houses

Residents of Gabane village are crying foul over high water bills which they blame on the Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) as well as cracked walls in houses they allege are caused by the overflowing WUC reservoir.

Addressing their grievances to Minister of Minerals Energy and Water Resouces, Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe during a Kgotla meeting last week the residents said since the  'premature takeover of services' from Kweneng District Council (KDC) WUC has failed them in many respects.

They cited these as the unavailability of bills, reduction in the number of public standpipes and the fact that they (residents) have to travel to Mogoditshane or even Gaborone to pay their bills, some of which are unbelievably high.
