Women encouraged to use female condoms

Queen Tamora, a Programme Officer at the Botswana National Youth Council (BNYC),says that it is high time women took responsibility of their health and sexual behaviour by using female condoms.

Speaking at a Kgotla meeting hosted by BNYCvolunteers and peer educators during the Month of Youth Against AIDS campaign (MYAA) at Tsolamosese on Friday, Tamora said that women also have to take the responsibility of protecting themselves to avoid being intentionally infected with the virus by their partners.The theme of the event was, “ Working Together, Getting to Zero new HIV infection, Zero discrimination, Zero AIDS–related deaths”.She said that it is important for women to know how to use the condom and always carry them and have them in their homes to avoid inconveniences.

“As we know, it has became a culture that men take the responsibility of all sexual activities done in the
house, but it is high time we stood up as women and take part in every sexual decision we have with our partners.
