Witness Dies, Suspected Robbers Acquitted

FRANCISTOWN: The death of a critical witness in a robbery case saved two suspects who were acquitted on all charges.

Francistown Senior Magistrate, Thato Mujaji said that the state's case was weak especially since they lost the only witness who could have identified some items.
Allegedly, the second accused was wearing shoes that were believed to belong to the husband of the deceased.

Mujaji said there were several factors that weakened the state's case.
"Shirley Goodwin is the true complainant in this case. She said accused number two was wearing her husband's shoes. She could have been an independent witness and very critical to this case," she said.
