Why F/town lost legal ceremony to Lobatse

FRANCISTOWN: It was a slap in the face for the second city on Wednesday when a ceremony to mark the opening of the legal year took place in Lobatse.

The ceremony was scheduled for Francistown but was cancelled last November due to what were called logistical obstacles. This was treated as a snub by northerners who were preparing to grace the occasion that was first held in Francistown in 2002. For the Tuesday event, a steering committee was created in Francistown to make preparations.

But the committee was halted in its tracks when it received a missive last November that its work had come to naught because the event had been shifted to the traditional venue of Lobatse.
