Walk Of Hope Fights Against Diabetes

Walk of Hope a non-governmental organisation has vowed to intensify its support for people leaving with diabetes, especially children.

The NGO hosted a fundraising dinner in support of people with Diabetes in Gaborone on Friday.  According to the founder and director of Walk of Hope, Theriso Motsumi-Motsemeng the NGO raised awareness, educated schools and screened pupils and students for diabetes.  She said they were helping to improve access to training and educating teachers, caretakers of patients with diabetes around schools adopted by Walk of Hope Organisation. 

“The organisation has been working hand-in-hand with seven schools they adopted of which the director have been helping them and donating from her own pocket for the last 10 years and continue doing that through the sanitary pads and shoe campaign.  It is now with this that we have agreed to host a fundraising dinner in support of people with diabetes where proceedings will be donated to selected schools to help students affected and living with diabetes,” she said.
