Venson-Moitoi to continue cracking the whip

Some teachers still harbour a lot of anger and bitterness and are stressed, the Minister of Education and Skills Development, Pelonomi Venson-Motoi, has said. "(But) all must work hard, regardless of what happened in the past," she said, referring to the public service strike of Winter 2011.

Addressing a PTA meeting at St Joseph's College recently, Venson-Moitoi said the teachers were taking out their frustration on students. "Bangwe ba sa ntse ba hupetse mme ba ntshetsa botlhoko mo baneng," she emphasised and vowed that she would not relent on cracking the whip. However, the minister said she is happy to hear that the Form Four students who have been admitted at St Joseph's College are doing well, although they have been admitted with a fail.

"It is not that they failed, something, somehow went wrong concerning the marking", she said. She said this time not any jack and gill will be eligible for marking and that the heads of schools will be responsible for the selection.
