In a gesture to stamp her 'eternal' presence as the Minister of Education and Skills Development, despite the shocking results for Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) that caused public outcry, Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi issued a press statement yesterday in which she indicated her plans for the year, including the examinations for 2013.

She plans to intensify in-service training for teachers on the revised curriculum and the new grading system.  A press release from Venson-Moitoi's private secretary Oteng Mokowe states that the minister and a ministry management team agreed to put these measures in place to address challenges experienced during the build-up to the 2012 Junior Certificate Examinations (JCE).

The ministry also plans to monitor the revised curriculum system and review existing education programmes as part of the measures.  These measures were arrived at following a meeting held on Tuesday by the minister and a team including the permanent secretary, deputy permanent secretary and all directors in the ministry.
