The University of Botswana has appointed Dr Ulrich Schmitt professor and dean of the school of graduate studies.

Graduate programmes are a strong growth point at the University of Botswana, with eight faculties offering graduate programmes ranging from masters degrees to doctoral studies.  Over 800 students of the university are doing their graduate studies through varying graduate programmes.

   
Dr Schmitt's academic studies incorporated interdisciplinary areas in business, engineering, computing, science and research management as well as international locations in Germany (Technical University Berlin: Dipl.Ing., University Speyer), Britain (Cranfield University: MSc) and Switzerland (University Basel: Dr. rer. pol.).
His business career as an IT Consultant (London) and Management Consultant (Basle) is characterised by projects in the areas of information systems, decision support, market research, strategic and change management.
