Ugandan in court for possession of fake money

Ugandan national Patrick Mugenyi has appeared before the Extension II Magistrates Court, facing charges of being in possession of 17 counterfeit P100 notes in Tlokweng.

Criminal Investigator, H.M Rari of Tlokweng police told court that on June 15, 2011 he was accompanied by two other police officers to  Mugenyi's residence, following a tip off that he had fake currency in his possession.
"When we arrived at his place, he was with his girlfriend, Sadi Tatedi.

"We questioned them about the suspected money but they denied knowledge of it. That is when we conducted a search around the house and discovered the 17 counterfeit P100 notes in Mugenyi's bedside chest of drawers," said Rari.Upon serious interrogation, Mugenyi admitted knowledge of the money and said that the notes were given to him by a certain Zimbabwean man, but he failed to disclose his identity or whereabouts.
