Two passengers, a woman aged 47 and a man whose age is not yet known, have lost their lives following an accident that occurred in Tsokwane Lands along the Kanye/Mmathethe road late Friday afternoon.

Southern Divisional traffic officer, Assistant Commissioner Boiki Mojalemotho said the accident involving a Kanye/Mmathethe public transport combi carrying eight passengers and a truck occurred at around 5:15pm. "It is alleged that the combi had just stopped for the deceased woman and when she was about to sit in the back seat, a truck hit the combi from behind and she died on the spot. "Later that day, another passenger, a man whose age is not yet known succumbed to injuries sustained as a result of the accident at Kanye Seventh-day Adventist Hospital.

Other combi occupants, including the 41-year-old male driver, escaped the accident with minor injuries and they were treated and released the same day," he explained. Mojalemotho said investigations into the matter are ongoing to establish what caused the accident.
