Tsolamosese residents welcome land demarcation

Tsolamosese residents have welcomed the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) proposal that sought to pave way for demarcation of the new Gabane/Mmankgodi region into electoral wards.

During a Kgotla meeting held in Tsolamosese recently IEC personnel Boamogetswe Monyena informed residents that Tsolamosese is no longer under Mogoditshane/Thamaga sub district and now falls under Gabane/Mmankgodi region.

The Gabane/Thamaga region now has a population of about 48,100 people and is expected to have 10 councillors from the current seven councillors. According to Monyena, a councilor must have at least 4,614 people in their constituency. She further said that amongst the seven wards in the region, Tsolamosese has the highest population of 11,607 followed by Gabane South East with 7,250, Metsimotlhabe with 7,157, Gabane South West with 5,464, Gabane North East with 4,765, Gabane North West with 4,501, Mmankgodi North with 3,875 and Mmankgodi South with 3,662.
