Tsolamosese residents promised more standpipes

TSOLAMOSESE: Tsolamosese councillor Botho Jack has promised residents four more standpipes at Block Four of the former informal settlement west of Gaborone.

The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) councillor made this announcement in a Kgotla meeting recently where he told the community that their prayers for water supplies in their ward have been answered.

He said that he was concerned about shortage of standpipes, which forced him to approach the Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) chiefs who agreed to install four more standpipes at Block Four where the four existing standpipes cannot cope with the demand for water in the area because the population has rocketed. He added that he was concerned about people who walk long distances to fetch water saying the situation was more depressing particularly for young children who fetch water far from home after school hours, which contributes to poor results in school as they get home tired or do not have enough time to study.
