After postponing their National Congress in 2020, the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) finally met in Tsabong over the weekend to elect new leadership.

Vice President and chairman, Slumber Tsogwane and his lobby team won all the positions up for grabs as per President Mokgweetsi Masisi's wishes.

The President was an elated man and had only the sweetest things to say about his newly elected committee. Tsogwane retained his chairmanship, defeating latecomer in the race, Nonofo Molefhi by 806 votes to his 218. Kavis Kario won the coveted secretary-general position garnering 750 votes over Shaw Kgathi’s 225 votes. Lemogang Kwape received 739 votes against Unity Dow’s 123 votes.
