'Trucks are a blight on Nata environment'

NATA: Dozens of trucks that bivouac here on a daily basis are a source of worry to the village authorities, says chief Letsogo Kgaswa.

Trucks transporting a variety of goods often converge near the village post office overnight and in the morning, they depart for their destinations in Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and other neighbouring countries.

Traditionally Nata is considered a good resting place by the truck drivers because of its strategic location. However, authorities have said that the trucks leave oil and fuel spills in the village. The spills are mostly a result of services that are done on the trucks.
