Selebi-Phikwe police have arrested a 42-year-old Zimbabwean woman and two Batswana at Newstance location on suspicion of selling marijuana.

The trio’s arrest followed a police tip-off on Saturday morning after suspicion that the Zimbabwean woman was selling marijuana.

Police followed up on the tip, searched the woman’s house and found her in possession of 74 small sachets of substances suspected to be dagga. The police then interrogated the woman who later disclosed that she was selling marijuana on behalf of a 32-year-old Motswana man who is also renting property in the same yard.

The police followed her lead and ended up retrieving 15 medium size sachets of marijuana from the said man hidden in a chicken coop. Selebi-Phikwe Police Station commander, Superintendent Nicholas Kadiatla said, thereafter, the police continued to search the second suspect’s house and recovered a further 38 packets of Chelsea cigarettes.

“Together with his 36-year-old girlfriend, the duo was arrested on suspicion of trading in marijuana and are currently in police custody for the investigation. The substances will be taken to a laboratory for further tests,” Kadiatla said.
