Tribal Administrators assist Children

MMADINARE: Mmadinare Children's Corner which is a centre for orphaned and needy children in Mmadinare on Tuesday received groceries worth P1, 400 from Mmadinare Tribal Administration and Mmadinare Primary Hospital staff.

The initiative to donate to the centre by the two institutions was hatched in 2007 when they started off by selling food to raise money and this was driven by the national vision pillar of a compassionate and caring nation. However the initiative according to the staff was met with heavy criticism as many people thought the staff had abandoned their work to concentrate on cooking food and they stopped raising more funds.

This year they decided on donating the proceeds in the form of groceries to Mmadinare Children's Corner, which is currently home to 52 orphaned, needy as well as other children. Kgosi Mabengano said they decided to buy groceries to answer the appeal by the children's corner leadership. He said they also attended the handover in large numbers to bear witness to their efforts.
