Threatened churches blame Moswaane for their woes

FRANCISTOWN: African churches facing evictions from the city’s open spaces have blamed their woes on former Monarch South Councillor and Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) parliamentary candidate, Ignatius Moswaane.

Moswaane was involved in the talks between the Francistown City Council (FCC) and the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), the mother-body of African churches who squatted on open space to yodel their praises to God. When asked why FCC continued to publish advertisements of the evictions whilst they (FCC and OAIC) have formed a taskforce team to address the issue, the president of OAIC, Bishop Tebogo Motlhagodi said they suspected Moswaane’s meddling might be the problem.

He said that Moswaane has talked to some of the churches promising that he was going to form a temporary platform to address the issue, but that must have so irked the FCC they just continued publishing adverts despite ongoing negotiations.
