An environmentalist wants compulsory installation of water harvesting tanks and a stop to bathtubs and flush toilets

Many know the inconvenience of toilets carrying that 'Out of Order' notice on the door. Few cannot imagine street lengths of office blocks and residential units with that sticker.  But with dams in Botswana at their all-time low and the rainy season behind us, the future looks set to be the driest in many years.

Environmental activist, Florah Mmereki, says government should enact legislature that forces everyone building a house to incorporate a water harvesting tank on the property."Every house has to have that component, and the law should be strictly enforced," she emphasises. "The current law does not call for such a development. "People should be encouraged to recycle water for domestic uses like gardening."
