The great butchers of the Okavango

They have been known to strike terror in the hearts of their enemies. In fact these two animals seem to have no friends except their own kind - the crocodile and the hippopotamus.

During our recent tour of the Okavango, courtesy of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the government of Botswana, I came face to face with the dreaded 'hunters' of the delta.

The crocodile has been described by Wikipedia as a large aquatic reptile that lives throughout the tropics in Africa, Asia, the America s and Australia.  Even the free encyclopedia's description of the crocodile is bound to send shivers up and down one's spine.
