Taps still dry in Tswapong

Long queues of people standing with buckets are a common sight nowadays in Lecheng and the surrounding villages of Gootau, Manaledi, and Goosekgweng as people wait for the water bowser to arrive so that they can collect water for their daily needs.

This has been the situation since President's Day Weekend in July when the main borehole fell in and the taps in the villages went dry. The villages are supplied from three boreholes located in Lecheng, but only one provides enough pressure to fill the tank and allow the water to reach all places. Unfortunately, that one borehole is the one that has been broken for almost two months.

Motswedinyane of the Water Unit at Serowe Council said that immediately when they were made aware of the situation, they went to work on fixing the collapsed borehole. They built a new structure, which was completed by the beginning of August.
