Suspected Kanye killer dies in police cells

A prime suspect in the recent Kanye serial killings is believed to have committed suicide in Sejelo Police cells yesterday. The 35-year-old man of Metlobo village, in the Southern District, was arrested on Sunday evening at Ruele ward in Kanye. The police say the suspect was found hanging in the cells with a blanket hem around his neck.

The suspect was detained, together with three Zimbabwean illegal immigrants, who were then released to immigration officials for deportation.

The police say he remained alone in the cells for about one hour forty-five minutes and when they checked at around 10.45am he was found hanging. The police have commenced investigations into the death. Since September 2008, there have been six reported cases in Kanye suspected to be the work of a serial killer.
