Student Faces Assault Charge

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Selebi Phikwe Police Station Commander, Isaiah Makala, says the police will press charges against a Selebi Phikwe Senior Secondary School student who stabbed a fellow learner last week.

The accused Form Four student is alleged to have stabbed a fellow learner following a misunderstanding at the school. The school head, Chakalisa Izhani would not comment on the matter saying it is a police case. She said it was 'an isolated incident'. Makala said the police are handling the case and 'the accused will face the music'. The injured student was referred to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital in Francistown.

Makala said the police would press charges after recording a statement from the victim. The station commander said although the police do not have details of what led to the stabbing, it is believed that it was an act of revenge.
