FRANCISTOWN: If he had his way, Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital Superintendent, Dr Japhter Masunge would concentrate on his job as a child health specialist.

His love for being in the trenches is bolstered by the fact that the hospital has a shortage of doctors. He told Monitor that he is unable to effectively juggle between being an administrator and a doctor at the same time and as such, quality of service is being compromised.

"It is true, the quality of our work is being compromised by the problem of shortage of doctors. In fact, it is not only the doctors who have left the hospital but other professionals like pharmacists, laboratory technicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and dieticians," the genial paediatrician revealed.
