Some TAWU Chiefs Retard Progress - Keitseng

President of Trainers and Allied Workers Union (TAWU) Allan Keitseng has revealed that some National Executive Committee (NEC) members were retarding progress.

Speaking at the union's congress held in Gaborone over the weekend, Keitseng said, for instance, the standing committees led by NEC members never functioned.

"There was a serious deficiency in understanding mandate of the various offices established by the constitution mainly that this issue relates to members apathy. Lack of capacity in performing duties as espoused in the constitution overloaded the office of the secretary general; lack of urgency in thought and process affected efficiency, more so that our branch leaders are pursuing negative malicious campaign against TAWU. There were traces of selfishness where members including our ordinary members avoided performing duties that did not attract financial gains," he said.
