A 38-year-old Mahalapye man has been arrested in connection with allegations of murder after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend with a stainless steel chain to death.

Shoshong police assistant police station commander, assistant superintendent George Simataa Mabuta said the incident occurred at Mathabanela cattlepost on Wednesday night.

Mabuta said when interrogated by the police, the suspect revealed to have had a misunderstanding with his 38-year-old girlfriend that night when returning from the shebeen and he ended up beating her with a chain until she got unconscious.
