'Ships of the desert' for cross breeding?

President Festus Mogae officially received camels from Libya's Colonel Muamar Gaddafi on Tuesday at a handing over ceremony at the Fairgrounds in Gaborone.

Handing over the gift on behalf of the Libyan leader, Assed M.Almuza, charge' d' Affaires of the Lybian People's Bureau based in Gaborone, briefed the small number of guests and government officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, police, Wildlife and Tourism Board about the importance of the camels. 

In his briefing he said, 'A camel commands great value in Arab countries and some African countries as it offers many benefits and services such as transporting goods and people for long distances in the desert, rough and mountainous terrains'.
