Shashemooke youth cautioned against stock-theft

SHASHEMOOKE: Youth in Shashemooke have been cautioned against stock-theft which has seemingly become common amongst unemployed youth who idle around the village.

During the interview with Mmegi, Kgosi Batsogile Adam said that the youth in his village have become very fond of stealing people's cattle and this is a cause of concern. "Cases of stock-theft have increased rapidly over the past years and each day we receive complaints from the residents. The youth in the village have made it fashionable to steal cattle and sell them at night," he said.

Adam said that they go as far as Shashe Dam to steal stray cattle there and even steal calves that have no identification which they later brand-mark."They sell meat from these cattle in Francistown. They sometimes even kill the cattle and sell the meat to residents here," he said.
