Seventeen Zim sex workers arrested in F/town

FRANCISTOWN: Tatitown police station commander Superintendent Seabe Maboka says his officers arrested 17 Zimbabwean women for idling and disorderly behaviour at the notorious Area W shopping complex last Friday night.

The women, alleged to be prostitutes, paid P50 each in admission of guilt fines and were released. Maboka says according to the law, first offenders are fined P50, while repeat offenders pay P100 in admission of guilt fines. But if a person is found at variance with this law for the third time, such a person is arraigned before a court

Maboka says since winter began, the number of Zimbabwean women believed to be commercial sex workers have decreased. "But we continue to keep an eye on them," he says.
