Senegal Threatens Sudan Withdrawal After Killings

Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade has reportedly threatened to withdraw his country's contingent in the African Union (AU) peacekeeping mission in Sudan after the weekend's rebel attacks. "I did not send people there to die. So I have threatened to pull our troops back. I am not the only one," said Wade.

In addition to the Botswana soldier killed in the attack, a Senegalese, seven Nigerians and one Malian were part of the casualties while dozens more were reported missing.

The commander of the new hybrid peacekeeping force in Darfur, Sudan, Gen Martin Luther Agwai, has blamed a breakaway rebel faction for the attack that killed 10 AU troops.
