Sedie tragedy: Serowe police still in doubt

FRANCISTOWN: Over two weeks after a horrific road accident that claimed about nine lives in Mmashoro on August 27, Serowe traffic police are yet to determine who was culpable.

Speaking to Mmegi in an interview yesterday, Officer Commanding Number Two Traffic Police District, based in Serowe, Superintendent Nketi Kokorwe said they were still gathering information on the accident. "As part of our investigations, we continue recording statements from those who were involved in the accident and those who could have witnessed the accident," he explained.


He indicated that they were still to determine which of the three drivers involved in the crash, could have been in the wrong.
The driver of the mini bus transporting the Sedie Junior Secondary School football team and coaches, perished in the accident that claimed six others. The driver of another truck, which was coming from Manu and transporting some scrap metals to the market, and a passenger died on the spot.
