FRANCISTOWN: The director of Pholizai Security Keemenao Kelebogile, 33, appeared before court yesterday to face one count of rape.

Kelebogile allegedly unlawfully had sexual intercourse with the complainant without her consent at or near Gerald Estates on October 1, 2021. Represented by attorney Joram Matomela, Kelebogile pleaded not guilty to the offence after charges were read to him. Sergeant Jacob Handly told Principal Magistrate Game Mooketsi that they are still waiting for some affidavits from witnesses. On the other hand, Matomela pleaded with the prosecution to give him the statements at the next mention. Mooketsi set the matter for status update on November 15.

The matter has since been reinstated following pressure from the Maun-based human rights organisation, Women Against Rape (WAR).
