Residents walk to fight crime

Residents of Block Seven, Block Eight and Block 10 in Gaborone engaged on a crime prevention walk on Saturday morning to raise awareness about crime prevention.

The walk was held under the theme: 'Active community involvement in crime prevention-key to safer communities by 2016'. It started near Limkokwing University Campus in Block Seven and ended at Phillip Moshotle Primary School soccer ground in Block Eight.

Addressing the residents at the end of the walk, Station Commander of Sir Seretse Khama International Airport (SSKA) Police, Superintendent King Tshebo congratulated the people for coming together to combat crime. The three estates fall under his beat. Tshebo called on the residents to form more crime fighting sub-clusters and reinforce the existing policies and initiatives. He told them to change their attitude towards crime prevention. He urged everyone to be involved in the fight against crime and stop thinking it is the responsibility of certain individuals. "Let us all commit ourselves to fight crime. The police are only there to help, but if you work with them, their job will become even easier," he said. He said the combined efforts would lead to safer residential areas.
