Senior Private Secretary to the President, Samuel Rathedi, has been promoted to Ministry for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration permanent secretary.

Rathedi, who has been described by many as a star performer, has taken up the new assignment as Minister Daniel Kwelagobe's secretary after working for close to five months as President Ian Khama's private secretary. Kwelagobe confirmed Rathedi's elevation in an interview with Monitor at the weekend.

"He has been promoted and he is now my secretary," said Kwelagobe.
Former army colonel, Duke Masilo is the acting private secretary to the president. Masilo had been deputy senior private secretary to the president. He also confirmed to Monitor his appointment as acting private secretary to the president. Kwelagobe has indicated that the post is new.
