Rains rescue farmers from ravenous worm

Speaking to Mmegi yesterday, MoA spokesman Geoffrey Pheko said the there was a considerable decline in the worm's numbers that could be attributed to the heavy rains of recent weeks across the country.

Pheko said the rains prevented pest control teams from going out to farmlands, but when they went after the rains subsided, the teams noticed that the worm was not as widespread as before. "We suspect it has now gone underground, he said. "Farmlands have a chance of surviving because the worm is gone, at least for a while."
